1. Agreement and scope
By accessing or using ShiftRead, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
These Terms apply to the ShiftRead website, reader workspace, account features, imports, briefings, and any related emails or support interactions.
2. Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 16 years old and able to enter into a binding agreement to use ShiftRead. If you are using the service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization.
You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for activity that happens under your account.
- Provide accurate signup information and keep your email address current.
- Do not share your account in ways that bypass intended access controls.
- Notify ShiftRead promptly if you believe your account or session has been compromised.
3. What ShiftRead provides
ShiftRead is a reading product that helps you import content, save it to a private account-backed library, and read it through a synchronized RSVP and running-text experience.
Some features are in beta, may change quickly, or may be added, removed, or limited without notice while the product evolves.
4. Imported content and your responsibilities
You may submit URLs or other supported inputs so ShiftRead can fetch, normalize, and display content for your own reading workflow. You are responsible for making sure you have the right to submit or access that material.
ShiftRead does not take ownership of third-party content you import. Rights in imported material remain with the original owners.
- Do not use ShiftRead to infringe copyrights, breach contracts, or violate platform rules.
- Do not submit unlawful, malicious, or security-testing payloads through imports.
- You grant ShiftRead a limited right to host, process, reproduce, and display imported material only as needed to operate and improve the service for your account.
5. Acceptable use
You may not misuse the service, interfere with other users, or try to access systems or data that you are not authorized to access.
- No reverse engineering, scraping, denial-of-service behavior, or abuse of rate limits.
- No attempts to bypass authentication, authorization, or safety restrictions.
- No use of ShiftRead to distribute malware, spam, fraud, harassment, or illegal content.
6. Third-party services
ShiftRead may rely on third-party providers such as Google for optional sign-in and Resend for transactional email delivery. Third-party content or services may also appear when you import material from external websites.
Those third parties operate under their own terms and privacy practices, and ShiftRead is not responsible for third-party systems outside our control.
7. Paid features, beta access, and changes
ShiftRead may offer free beta access, paid plans, or support tiers. If we introduce paid features, we will describe pricing, billing cadence, and material plan limits before you are charged.
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue all or part of the service at any time, including to improve reliability, security, or product focus.
8. Intellectual property
ShiftRead and its software, branding, interface, and original materials are protected by intellectual property laws. Except for the limited rights needed to use the service, these Terms do not give you ownership of ShiftRead intellectual property.
You may not copy, resell, sublicense, or create derivative works from ShiftRead except as permitted by law or with written permission.
9. Disclaimers and no professional advice
ShiftRead is provided on an as is and as available basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and uninterrupted availability.
Briefings, summaries, highlights, and imported market content are provided for informational purposes only and do not constitute investment, legal, tax, or other professional advice.
10. Suspension and termination
You may stop using ShiftRead at any time. ShiftRead may suspend or terminate access if we reasonably believe you violated these Terms, created security risk, exposed us to legal liability, or used the service abusively.
We may also retain or delete account data as required by law, for legitimate security reasons, or under the retention rules described in the Privacy Policy.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, ShiftRead will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or business opportunity arising from your use of the service.
If the law does not allow the exclusion of certain damages, our liability will be limited to the minimum extent permitted by applicable law.
12. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of ShiftRead will be resolved through good-faith negotiation first. If negotiation does not resolve the issue within 30 days, either party may pursue resolution in the state or federal courts located in Delaware.
13. General provisions
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force and effect.
Our failure to enforce any provision does not waive our right to enforce it later. These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and ShiftRead regarding the service and supersede any prior agreements on the same subject.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will post the revised version here and update the last updated date.
If a change materially affects your rights or obligations, we may also provide additional notice inside the product or by email.
